Experience is the best teacher

A story on handling “wars” in adulting.

Last year, I experienced a drought in my prayer life and every time I felt the tug to pray, my mind would be so clouded and I wouldn’t be able to.

When the “war” came, I was completely floored because I didn’t have the capacity to withstand it.

The Bible says:

So now, when I observe that my mind is getting clouded and it’s affecting my ability to pray, I get up and fight.

I fight with a retreat, a prayer playlist, and a playlist of sermons on prayers. I keep these on repeat and listen over and over.

When you see me sharing screenshots on sermons, and you’re thinking “oh she’s so spiritual”. I’m probably fighting for my life 😂.

Just kidding

More seriously though, now when I feel a tug/pull to pray more, I know there’s a war coming based on experience and even though I’ve been praying normally, it’s time to rev it up.

How can I be so sure?

Last year, I ignored a series of pulls and tugs.

A war came and floored me.

Earlier this year, I didn’t ignore the pull, but my mind was getting clouded a lot - When the war came, I was partly ready. I knew what it was.

I have now identified the patterns.

I’m ready to fight so wars will meet me prepared. It will come, but it won’t floor me, and when it comes, I’ll know how to navigate it.

Because experience is the best teacher and I have learnt.

Incase you’re wondering what I mean by war, don’t worry.

It’s usually a battle for my mind - Imagine it as SERIOUS darkness and depression that comes as a result of life’s challenges.

In all of these, I’m just grateful that I get an intel of upcoming wars. I think it’s a great advantage. Cheers to Daddy God 🤸🏽‍♀️
