Maybe age is not just a number.
Nigerian elders say that what an elderly person can see sitting down, a younger person might not see it standing up.
Also, we are getting to the age where we are beginning to have these realisations that our parents were right about somethings a lot of things.
So I find myself in a situation and I think; “Damn, mummy was right” or “Damn, daddy was right”
My brother and I have gotten to the phase where we gossip about how my dad is always right and you only find out few years after. We told him recently and he laughed at us 😂
So nowadays, I spend a lot of time asking my parents for advice on everything- Finance, Career, Self- Development and guess what? Men!
Men!
I have always been a daddy’s girl but I never thought I’d get to the stage where I video call my dad to talk about men 🤣
I digress.
Let me go straight to the point.
I think that if you have the benefit of having access to older and wiser people, you should be grateful. Sometimes, they’re not always older, but having wise people is very helpful.
Even the Bible says that in the midst of counsel, there is safety.
Proverbs 11:14 “Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counselors there is safety”
I also know that sometimes, people project their realities on us so it’s important to filter.
Also important to have people who are objective and want the best for us while also allowing us to grow.
But at the crux of it, counsel is so important and after spending my weekend with my women, I am here to say that I am grateful for counsel.
Grateful for older, wiser, stronger people that I have in my community.
I am safe because I have counsel.
I hope you’re safe too? ❤️
Let’s keep it short and sweet and end it here.
Expect my email next time when I have something chooking my chest.
I don’t know when that will be, neither do you.
That’s the beauty of this newsletter, innit? 🤭
Toodles,
