I am using the word “enemies” lightly though, and I am referring to people who have hurt you, annoyed you, offended you, and just all of those not so nice human things.
Congrats on the podcast! I love everything about the name, mantra and announcement.
On enemies (hmmm) I don't think we can use the term "enemies" lightly because they are people who want our downfall. Like Haman in the bible, enemies do not want to hurt us or offend us (those are offenders). They want to snuff life out of our lungs. They want to render us and our generations useless in all ramifications and David the Psalmist knows well enough to bring them before God and pray for God to smite them (how much more us) Psalm 91, 35, and so much more.
Even the Bible encourages us that "when the enemies shall rise as a flood against us the spirit of the Lord shall raise a standard against them" (Isaiah 59:19-20). If the Holy Spirit will raise a standard against our enemies who are we not to pray for God to smite them?
If David who didn't slay Saul can severely pray for his enemies to be destroyed and buried in their gallows by God. If God himself says "He will feed our enemies with their own blood and their own flesh ...." (Isaiah 49:26). . How much more are we to pray for God to deal them heavy blows and how mighty will God answer?
As one who has experienced enemies (not offenders ) and seen God smite them in his might. I say it in a loud shout that - GOD WILL SMITE OUR ENEMIES AND WE SHOULD PRAY GOD DO.
I don't ever give the enemies (not offenders ) a chance to repent because they don't seek my light to shine forth to Glorify God. If they cut my light short and repent God will forgive them so I don't give them a chance - I ask God do show himself mighty once they raise up their heads.
May God help us and smite our enemies, Amen! . May we not see enemies that will turn us to soldiers fighting battles mighty. May God fight for us and we hold our peace (Numbers 14:14) Amen!
Also, I used the word “enemies” lightly to refer to someone who hurt/ offended me.
Not enemies in the large sense of it.
About enemies and people wanting your downfall and all of that, that’s a whole different conversation and my belief system about that is more focused on the love that God has for me and the protection that he will give me and less about praying for someone’s death.
Also, some verses in the Old Testament can be taken out of context, however, this is not Bible study.
All of that aside , what I intended to communicate with the post is that different people can hurt you and they deserve grace.
